বৃহস্পতিবার (১১ মে) ঢাকার চতুর্থ বিশেষ জজ আদালতের বিচারক শেখ নাজমুল আলম তাকে চার বছরের কারাদণ্ড দেন।
মামলার রায়ে বলা হয়, ‘আসামি জনাব মো. হারুন অর রশীদ বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর প্রধান ছিলেন। দেশের স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে তার সাহসী অবদানের জন্য বাংলাদেশ সরকার তাকে বীর প্রতীক খেতাব প্রদান করে। আমাদের মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান বিবেচনায় এই আইনে তাকে সর্বনিম্ন শাস্তি দেওয়া হলো। ’
‘আসামি সেনাপ্রধান লেফটেন্যান্ট জেনারেল হারুন অর রশীদ (অব.) বীর প্রতীককে মানি লন্ডারিং আইন ২০১২ এর ৪ (২)(৩) ধারায় চার বছরের বিনাশ্রম কারাদণ্ড ও সাড়ে তিন কোটি টাকা জরিমানা করা হলো। জরিমানা প্রদানে ব্যর্থতায় তাকে আরও ছয় মাসের বিনাশ্রম কারাদণ্ড দেওয়া হলো। এছাড়া তার জব্দকৃত সকল ব্যাংক হিসাব মুক্ত করে দেওয়া হলো। ’
ডেসটিনির শীর্ষ কর্মকর্তাদের বিরুদ্ধে দুর্নীতি দমন কমিশনের (দুদক) মামলার রায় হয়েছে। প্রতিষ্ঠানটির এমডি রফিকুল আমীনকে ১২ বছর কারাদণ্ড ও দুইশ কোটি টাকা জরিমানা করা হয়। এ দুজনসহ মোট ৪৬ আসামিকে থেকে ১১ বছর পর্যন্ত বিভিন্ন মেয়াদে কারাদণ্ডের পাশাপাশি ২ হাজার ৩০০ কোটি টাকা জরিমানা করা হয়েছে। জরিমানার এই টাকা থেকে পরিশোধ করা হবে গ্রাহকদের দায়দেনা।
